Buyer reading note

For buyers, brand owners and product teams comparing packaging options.

Use this as early-stage guidance; confirm final specifications with sampling and testing.

Accurate custom packaging quotations depend on complete specification information. Many B2B buyers receive inconsistent prices because key details are missing, such as pouch size, material structure, printing requirements, quantity or product usage conditions.

This RFQ guide explains what information should be prepared before requesting a custom flexible packaging quote from a manufacturer.

Core Information Needed for a Custom Packaging Quote

1. Pouch Type

Different pouch types require different production processes and cost calculations. Please confirm whether you need a stand up pouch, flat bottom pouch, spout pouch, quad seal bag, three-side seal pouch, roll film or another customized style.

2. Size and Capacity

Provide width, height and gusset dimensions if available. If the size is not fixed, provide the filling weight or capacity target so the supplier can recommend a suitable reference size.

3. Material Structure and Thickness

If you already have a required structure, send it directly. If not, describe the product type, shelf-life target and storage environment so the supplier can recommend a suitable material structure.

4. Printing Requirements

Confirm whether you need custom gravure printing or blank packaging. For printed orders, provide color quantity, surface finish requirements and any special effects such as matte, glossy or spot finish.

5. Order Quantity

Custom printed packaging usually starts from 10,000 pcs. Actual MOQ and unit price depend on pouch type, size, material, printing complexity and production schedule.

6. Artwork File

For custom printed orders, vector artwork files are preferred. AI, PDF and CDR files with correct bleed and dimensions help reduce repeated modification and delay.

7. Product and Usage Environment

Tell the supplier what product will be filled, such as food, pet food, beverage, baby food, powder or daily chemical liquid. Also confirm whether the product needs normal-temperature storage, freezing, hot filling or other processing conditions.

8. Destination Market

Food-contact packaging requirements may vary by country or region. Buyers should confirm local regulations and required documents before production.

Why Complete Information Improves Quotation Accuracy

Missing material information may lead to a quote that looks cheaper but is not suitable for the product. Unclear printing requirements can cause inaccurate plate or cylinder cost calculation. Unknown storage conditions may lead to an unsuitable structure recommendation.

Providing complete RFQ information helps the supplier quote more accurately and reduces repeated communication before production.

FAQ

Can I get a quote without fixed sizes?

Yes. You can provide the product weight, capacity target and usage scenario. We can recommend a suitable reference size, but final confirmation is still needed before production.

What artwork formats are suitable for printing?

Vector files such as AI, PDF or CDR are preferred for gravure printing. Low-resolution images are not suitable for formal printing production.

Do blank packaging bags have a lower MOQ?

Blank packaging may be more flexible because there is no printing cylinder cost. The actual MOQ still depends on size, material, production availability and current scheduling.

Can you help check artwork before production?

Yes. Artwork size, bleed, text position and printing feasibility can be checked before plate or cylinder making.
